Satma CE for Collection & Segregation of waste

Updated: Jul 19, 2023

Using Satma at the first point of collection and segregation to provide a seamless tracking of chain of custody & to calculate profitability with impact.

The cycle of traceability in waste starts with a person or institution picking the waste and dropping the waste at a collection facility. The details at the first point of waste movement need to be tracked, along with details on the type (plastic, metal, paper, etc.) to get true traceability of waste and to understand our disintegrated waste industry.

Satma CE enables you to capture the detailed collection and segregation processes customised to the type of waste collected and the categories of waste handled by the facility. At the collection point, Satma enables you to capture location waste is picked from, details person that has dropped the waste, what category the waste has gotten collected under, goods receipt notes get created with compliance details, images of waste, live quality control and inventory management. Integration with finance modules also enables real time payment for the waste received, enabling doing away with the woos of credit issues that waste-pickers and other aggregators have long faced when selling the waste collected.

Profitability analysis

“One of the foremost pain points faced at collection and segregation of waste is vendor ranking and to understand if each transaction has resulted in overall profit or loss.”

One of the foremost pain points faced at collection segregation/sorting is understanding if each batch of waste brought in has resulted in an overall profit or loss for the organisation. This problem has been tackled in the collection and segregation module provided by Satma CE. By capturing details of the waste brought in- type, quantity, batch wise segregation details, number of people that perform the segregation, live quality check procedures or the material, etc. for segregation at each given point. Going beyond real time material quality check, facilities that carry out segregation as part of their services can generate auto reports on segregation and successfully compute the profitability they get from each batch/load of waste that is brought into their facilities further facilitating vendor rating.

Inventory Management

Transactional data throughout the supply chain can be recorded through Satma from collection, shipment/transport, segregation, location tracking, bailing of material. When scanned, QR codes on bailed waste disclose the record of chain of custody as the materials move through from waste to worth. The ambiguity in the waste industry with regards to absence of regulation are removed by bringing in regulated guidelines through standard data points collected in the software. Stock management information at various facilities can be obtained that help facilitate inventory planning.

While the software can be used by various different stakeholders, the flow can be derived from the blockchain records from sales and purchases once the eco-system is built.

Impact Reporting

Impact data is mostly unstructured, non-comparable, and mostly qualitative. Companies all around the world are setting strategies, monitoring their performance, and reporting outcomes, in alignment with globally accepted standards. Waste management companies face very different environment and social reporting issues based on their particular sector or location; there isn’t one set of metrics that applies to all, since the challenges that plague waste management are unlike others. Satma allows you to customise your impact reporting and helps companies capture real time data, as and when each transaction takes place on a daily basis. This allows companies using Satma to have a centralised, time-tested system for collecting accurate, timely, complete, financially relevant, and verifiable data.
